Welcome to word Jam!  We're a dynamic collective of poets and performers, based in Nottingham, Uk.  our co-directors are Rich goodson and mina fatemi.  

word Jam is inter-cultural and multilingual.  we want to celebrate the massive diversity of languages and cultures, here, now, in the uk, through poetry, music, rap, spoken word and story.   

our aims are:   

1.  to create a supportive, democratic network of poets and performers, both professional and amateur, mostly from non-english-speaking backgrounds.

2.  to help each other develop new, ORIGINAL work - in english or other languages - through regular creative writing workshops and rehearsals.

3.  to collaborate with musicians and word-artists from other cultures and languages.

4.  To entertain, educate and inspire by performing our work at events and festivals.  


our ethos is encapsulated in a quotation from the german poet johann Georg hamann:  

"poetry is the mother-tongue of mankind".
